The Interdisciplinary Program in Quantitative Biosciences (IPQB) aims to provide training at the interface between Biological and Physical Sciences. This program is designed to educate scientists to work comfortably and creatively across disciplines, becoming effective leaders and team players in both the public and private sectors. The program offers an interdisciplinary Ph.D. with a focus on quantitative techniques to describe living systems, covering Biotechnology, Biomaterials, Physical Chemistry and Biophysics. Students can choose between two emphases, either in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology or Biophysics & Bioengineering. The primary goal of the IPQB Program is to prepare students to become versatile biologists capable of tackling cross-disciplinary challenges. From the first day of their training, students engage in an immersive course designed to remove barriers between conventional disciplines. Over the course of a full quarter, IPQB students learn representative techniques of Quantitative Biology through a series of two-week hands-on modules. These modules introduce theoretical concepts and their applications through mini research projects, which serve as practical rotations. Overall, the IPQB Program seeks to push the boundaries of field-specific knowledge by addressing traditional questions from new perspectives.
