Saftey and Services Information
One never expects something bad to happen, and preparing for that "just in case" scenario means good planning. Here are some resources to be aware of and a page you might want to bookmark.
In Case of an Emergency |
In an emergency involving the UC Santa Barbara campus and/or the community of Isla Vista here are some steps to protect yourself and family:
- Tune to radio station KCSB-FM (91.9) or AM 1610 for emergency information.
- Visit the campus Web site for links to event updates and resource information, http://www.ucsb.edu/.
- Visit the campus emergency contacts list, for numbers and links, http://www.ucsb.edu/emergency/.
- Call the 1+(888) 488-8272 line. Parties may call in to hear a recorded information message.
- Register for the emergency notification system, UCSB ALERT. It is recommended that all students, faculty, staff, parents, and visitors sign up to receive messages via their cell pGradhones, Blackberry devices, wireless PDAs, pagers, and/or email. Go to http://alert.ucsb.edu/ and click on the button marked “Click Here to Register.”

Paramedic Rescue
Public Safety Building
(805)
893-3928 |
UC Santa Barbara has a fully equipped Paramedic Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance that responds to medical emergencies in the UCSB/Isla Vista community and provides transportation to Student Health or to any local hospital. Paramedics also instruct CPR classes. |
Community Service Organization (CSO) & the Escort Service
(805) 893-2000 |
CSO consists of students who work with the Campus Police Department to serve the safety and security needs of the campus community. CSO officers can be identified by their yellow shirts and the radios they carry which keep them in direct contact with the police. CSO officers provide a nighttime escort service for any individuals who might otherwise be walking or riding alone. Escorts are available on campus, in Isla Vista, and for those traveling between campus and Isla Vista. It is easy to make arrangements for an escort: simply pick up any blue campus emergency phone or dial 893-2000. |
