Spanish and Portuguese Graduate Degree Program

Description
The Department of Spanish and Portuguese is one of the fi rst in the United States to include in its curriculum all fi ve of the offi cial languages and literatures recognized in the Iberian Peninsula. The curriculum also covers the spectrum of Hispanic literary traditions, from the Middle Ages to U.S. Chicano and Latino literature and does the same with the Portuguese and Brazilian literary traditions. The Department offers the M.A. degree in Portuguese and in Spanish, with specialties in Spanish and Spanish-American Literature, in Hispanic Linguistics, and in Portuguese and Brazilian Literatures. The Ph.D. degree is offered in Hispanic languages and literatures with areas of study in Spanish and Spanish-American literature, Luso-Brazilian literature, and Hispanic linguistics.
