2013 Pre-Application: For International Students Only

The online pre-application provides prospective international students with an opportunity to state their interest in an academic department or program by submitting contact information, educational history, and academic interests. While not an evaluative tool, the pre-application enables departments and students to gauge compatibility, identify special needs, and communicate important program information.

We recommend that you visit the web page of your department of interest to find more detailed information about their graduate degree program before submitting this pre-application.

Some international students may be required by their department to complete this pre-application for graduate study at UCSB. Please do not submit this pre-application if the department or program you are interested in, is not listed in the 'Major of Interest' drop-down menu located below. Please note: Pre-Applications that are submitted cannot be forwarded to another program.

The UCSB Graduate School Application is located at: http://graddiv.ucsb.edu/eapp/. The application fee for international applicants is $100.00 USD.

Please note: GRE scores are valid for five years, and TOEFL or IELTS scores are valid for two years from the test date to the day the online application is submitted.

Financing a University education can be difficult for international students. While eligible for some forms of campus support such as research positions, teaching assistantships or fee remissions, international students are NOT eligible for federal financial aid. International students must be aware of this funding limitation and assume the responsibility for securing and reporting additional sources of financial support such as personal funds, scholarships, fellowships or other outside sources.

For more detailed information on possible expense estimates for a single international student for each 12 month period, see Expenses for International Students.

Please enter the estimated annual amount of financial resources available to support your graduate education in the field below. This annual amount should include sources such as personal funds, scholarships, fellowships or other applicable financial resources.

By submitting this pre-application, you are confirming that you understand that federal financial aid is NOT available to international students as well as your responsibility for securing additional financial resources.
